Planning the filming of your celebration
An event video might be a short memory, a story of the whole day or a recording of one performance. Decide on the result first: it shapes the filming, editing and attendance time required.
Plan the sound as well as the picture
Watch complete examples and listen to speech, music and the overall sound. Ask how greetings or performances will be recorded in a noisy room. Highlight moments that cannot be repeated, such as a character’s entrance, a surprise or candles on the cake. The camera operator needs their order beforehand. Agree on working positions that leave guests a clear view and keep activity space available. Mention moves between indoor and outdoor areas too.
Describe the finished video
Confirm the approximate length, picture orientation and whether you need a shorter version for phone viewing. Discuss delivery, editing consultations and the way files will be shared. Music choices and any portfolio excerpts should be agreed separately. If a photographer is also attending, introduce both people and give them the same running order. A shared plan lets them capture the important moments without directing guests in two different ways at once.
