Choosing a live band for a celebration
Live music can change the mood of a gathering, but a favourite song in a demo is only a starting point. Consider the sound and pace your guests will enjoy throughout the event.
Discuss repertoire and line-up
Watch recordings of real performances and confirm the line-up proposed for your date. Describe the age range, preferred song languages and whether dancing or conversation will be the main focus. Share a few favourite tracks and styles you would rather avoid. Ask how performance sets alternate with breaks. If speeches or children’s activities are planned, give them their own time without competing background music or an overlapping sound check.
Connect the performance with the venue
Confirm the working area, sound equipment, unloading time and setup requirements, then pass the details to the venue contact. Agree who provides music during breaks and a microphone for brief guest contributions. Discuss volume before the event, taking account of table positions and conversation. Record arrival time, the first set, the length of each part and the finish, so the musicians and venue team can follow one practical schedule.
